I use cooking and baking to explore and express my creative side. Growing up in Jamaica and then living in the US and traveling to different countries, I have grown to understand and appreciate different flavors as I have seen how natural herbs and spices are blended to create an amazing taste. This is what I would like to share with the world.
Passion and Patience
A personal mantra I live by is “get it done now”, which has helped me in both my personal and professional life throughout the years. However, being in the kitchen takes not only passion, but patience as well. My passion for food was developed from an early age. Patience on the other hand, is what I learn in the kitchen, with every dish that I make.
Over the past few years, I have been experimenting with my love for cooking and baking. You see…cooking and baking takes precision, attention to detail, and a determination to get it right (all attributes of patience)… realizing that not every recipe or dish idea will work out the way you envision it. I had to keep trying and exercising my skills for precision. This built my confidence in the kitchen to take my passion outside of the kitchen by sharing it with family and friends.
Getting it right means exploring and learning what spices and flavors I like, and how to combine those herbs and spices in order to create a dish I am proud to present.
This blog will give me the opportunity to share my passion and creativity in the kitchen, in order to motivate others to unfold their hidden passions as well.
I believe in balancing health and happiness
I believe that balancing health and happiness is essential in living a sustainable life. Food brings me happiness, and in order to try to maintain a balance, I have to find ways to prepare food that is healthy and delicious.
